With its 543,825 inhabitants, Dresden is the capital of the Free State of Saxony and one of the largest cities in the new federal states after Berlin.
The unique location in the Elbe Valley earned it the status of the royal seat of the Saxon electors and later kings. 700 years of architectural history are evidence of this. About 90% of the city center was destroyed at the end of World War II, the reconstruction and the construction of many key buildings in a monumental form have given it back its splendour and prestige.
After German-German reunification, Dresden became one of the country's economic centers. Industry and tourism as well as the skilled trades are strong and very dynamic and thus offer good conditions for internships in a variety of sectors.
Dresden also has a lot to offer in terms of culture, which can be used as an exciting change to the interns' working lives. In the old town, historical enthusiasts get their money's worth, while the new town invites you to a discovery tour in the midst of an alternative atmosphere. Small art shops, galleries, bars and smaller clubs define the image of this district. The surrounding regions, such as Saxon Switzerland and the Elbe Valley, are also worth a visit and an interesting destination for a weekend trip.
